RE: [Iometer-user] Dynamo for Linux kernel 2.6.x (i386)

Taylor, Perry
Thanks Ming, I am specifically using base kernel 2.6.14-4 with IOMeter
version 2004.7.30.  I have just checked firewall options and firewall is
disabled.
I have tried the following command lines on the Linux system
./dynamo -i roverx -m uut
where roverx is the system running IOMeter and uut is the local IP added
to hosts file.  Roverx IP has also been added to hosts, so that I can
ping roverx with success.
./dynamo -i 192.168.0.200 -m 192.168.0.198
where 192.168.0.200 is the IP of the system running IOMeter and
192.168.0.198 is the IP of the system under test.
I will add that everyone can ping everyone ok.
Is there perhaps a Linux service that needs to be started or stopped?

Thanks,

so with this 2 commands, u still can not connect?

no

if u still can not connect

1) try 0730ds2 version
2) try compile dynamo from source code and enable DEBUG flag. see what
printed on dynamo side.

Taylor, Perry
In reply to this post by Ming Zhang
Also, IOMeter is displaying the following errors when dynamo is
executed:
1.  AddManager() failed to add manager to manager list!
2.  Could not connect to new manager using TCP/IP port in
ManagerList::AddManager
3.  ===> ERROR: Getting host information for "uut" failed.
[PortTCP::Connect() in
c:\cygwin\home\administrator\projekte\CVS\iometer\src\IOPortTCP.cpp line
371] errno = 11004

ping uut from u iometer box and see if ok.

try to use ip address first. if iometer box and dynamo box can ping each
other ok, u have good chance to run it.

Did you add an entry for uut in the hosts file on the windows machine
running the GUI.  It looks like it can't figure out the IP address of
itself since it is being referred to by name.

Re: RE: [Iometer-user] Dynamo for Linux kernel 2.6.x (i386)

Joe Eiler
In reply to this post by Ming Zhang
I believe he already said everyone was pinging fine.
I just tried 2.6.5 with Fedora Core 2, but I built from sources and it
worked fine.

Try this and see if it sheds any light
Stop dynamo and iometer
run "netstat --tcp"
Start dynamo (but not iometer)
run "netstat --tcp"
Start iometer
run "netstat --tcp"

You should see the dynamo port not there, change to listening, then an
actual connection.

Can you connect to the Iometer GUI with any other dynamo
clients?(besides the one on the local box)
