Trying to build iometer with Visual Studio 2010

Robert Perry
Hi folks,

The only windows devel environment I have available is visual studio 2010.  I have been able to cobble together a solution that builds and runs ok except for one assert that I am getting when I try to either open or save a configuration file.  I am hoping that someone can help me get past this as my windows devel experience is nil.

I am hitting an assert in afxwin2.inl line 116.  Interestingly, this is only happening on my host running windows server enterprise.  It works fine on my windows XP professional host (which is also where I have visual studio installed and am building).

Does anyone have any advice, suggestions on things to try or maybe a solution :-)

Thanks,
Bob Perry

Hi Bob,

We have seen this issue. But it may not reproduce in exactly the same way all the time. I was pointed to a Microsoft knowledge base article that described the problem, with no clear fix as far as I could tell.

I have seen good behavior when compiling with the WDK build environment. I don't have the process documented, but if you understand it a little it is easy to figure out. We'll ensure that the binaries we publish are functional and address this issue when we can.

Hi Ved,

Thanks for your reply.  I'll download the wdk and give it a try.  Can you point me to the knowledge base article you mentioned?

Thanks,
Bob
